Team bonding - Recap!

Author: Joshua Hernandez

Undergraduate intern for the B-RAD Lab at the University of Alabama

On July 26th the B-Rad team had a fun day bowling their troubles away at Bowlero, Tuscaloosa. Everyone bowled to their hearts content but round one ended with John Eddins as the victor and round two ended with Nicole Friedman as the victor. Both very competitive matches but we all had so much fun and ate some great food together. Gathering together as a lab outside of working and research is and was such an important experience for us. We discussed future plans, struggles, intricacies in the lab, and different ways we could help each other with our goals. While this type of conversation isn’t unusual for a bunch of college kids at a bowling alley, it still felt very validating and relaxing getting to know the people we work with each day on a more personal level. Learning about each other and getting to know one another has helped build a stronger bond in the lab and helped build trust within each of the interns. Dr. Caitlin Hudac herself was even doing a little jig as she bowled her 2nd strike of the afternoon. Learning, listening, and relaxing with your lab will create a more trusting and easier environment with everyone who works in it. Overall, the B-Rad lab is not only a lab dedicated to research across development but also one dedicated to lab connectivity.
