EEG at Central High SchoolAuthor: Ryan BarashUndergraduate intern for the B-RAD Lab at the University of Alabama I had the pleasure of working with the Central High School football players on a project that investigates sports-related concussions! This was the first time our lab has conducted off-site research using our portable EEG system. We collaborated with Dr. Jessica Wallace from UA's Department of Health Science Athletic Training Program. We were all very nervous but excited for this new experience. We set up our equipment in the athletics building at Central High School and saw 23 participants in 2 days (a new record for the B-RAD Lab). It was definitely a busy workweek, but it went smoothly! We all had a blast hanging out with the team, and everyone was eager to participate! Our fruity gummy chews and Powerade power water were a huge hit with the football players. We will be seeing the kids again after football season to gather post-season data, but in the meantime we will be attending their games and routing them on - go Falcons!!!
