Research Integrity Group (RIG)
Goal: The goals of the RIG are to deepen understanding of ethical issues in research (biomedical-focused and more general), help trainees to identify ethical issues in their own research, and enable them to formulate ethical solutions to those issues.
Overview: This monthly program is intended to enable trainees and researchers to meet the public health service and NIH requirements for training in responsible conduct of research, and consists of regular seminars in which topics include: (1) Conflict of interest; (2) Data acquisition and ownership; (3) Peer review; (4) Responsible authorship; and, (5) Research misconduct. Faculty from the University of Alabama at large are invited to facilitate discussions and encourage their own trainees to attend. Advanced students will be encouraged to lead discussions as well. |
